WINTER STORM WARNING ISSUED FOR TUESDAY IN THE RED RIVER VALLEY

The National Weather Service has updated the Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning for Crookston and the Red River Valley from 1:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday.
The warning includes the cities of Crookston, East Grand Forks, Ada, Faith, Twin Valley, Halstad, Moorhead, Warren, Stephen, Argyle, New Rockford, Lakota, Mcville, Aneta, Tolna, Grand Forks, Cooperstown, Finley, Hope, Mayville, Hillsboro, Hatton, Portland, Valley City, and Fargo.

…WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 6 PM CST TUESDAY…

* WHAT…Heavy snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 inches or more with a narrow band of 6 or more inches possible. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE…Portions of the central Red River Valley in North Dakota and Minnesota.

* WHEN…From 1 AM to 6 PM CST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…Travel will be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero will cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The heaviest snow is expected to fall within a narrow band. Impacts could vary greatly across a rather short distance due to high variability in snowfall totals.
