ZACH BROWN WRESTLES IN NATIONAL JR. DUAL

Crookston High School’s Zach Brown is wrestling for one of the two Minnesota teams in the National Junior Duals in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  The first round of wrestling began on Wednesday with the Greco-Roman Duals and Zach went 2-1 on the day and Team Minnesota 2 finished fifth place.  There are three other area wrestlers competing for team Minnesota with Ashton Clark of Park Rapids, Cade Lundeen of Thief River Falls and Chandler Mooney of Badger-Greenbush-Middle River.  The results from Wednesday are below –

First-round – Iowa beat Minnesota 2 41-27 and none of the local wrestlers competed.

Second round – Minnesota Red beat Michigan 1 40-28.
Zach won his match at 106 pounds by a forfeit.
Ashton Clark lost by Tech Fall (10-0) at 120 pounds.
Cade Lundeen lost his match at 132 pounds by Tech Fall (10-0)
Chandler Mooney won his match at 160 pounds by Tech Fall 11-0.

In the third round, Minnesota 2 lost to Indiana 39-27.  None of the local wrestlers competed in the match.

In the fifth place of pool play match – Minnesota 2 beat Tennessee 60-9
Zach Brown won his match by pin at 1:07, Clark won 10-1,  Lundeen won by Tech Fall (11-0).

The second round of pool play started with Team Minnesota 2 beating Kansas 2 42 to 21.
Zach Brown lost his match by pin at 47 seconds, Mooney won by Tech Fall (11-0)

On Thursday, Team Minnesota 2 will wrestle Alaska.
