On Monday, March 11 at approximately 9:01 p.m. officers of the Grand Forks Police Department received information that a stolen motor vehicle was located on the 1100 block of 6th Avenue North. Officers were able to locate the vehicle parked at a residence. The vehicle had the license plates removed but did match that of the previous report taken by UND PD for the stolen motor vehicle.
At approximately 10:57 p.m. officers were conducting surveillance on the vehicle when the vehicle went mobile. A stop was initiated at this time but the driver of the vehicle refused to stop. The vehicle was pursued from the 1100 block of 6th Avenue North to the 2600 block of 2nd Avenue North where the driver drove the vehicle up onto a snow bank. A felony stop was conducted at 11:02 pm and the driver and a passenger were taken into custody without further incident.
The driver, identified as being Michael Sebjornson (04/05/85), was placed under arrest for aggravated reckless driving, fleeing in a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, driving under suspension, a Grand Forks district warrant for theft and possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia (C Felony).
The passenger, identified as being Jeremy Nelson (11/21/88), was placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia (C Felony).
The GFPD was assisted in part by the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office and the University of North Dakota Police Department. The vehicle was able to be returned to the registered owner at the conclusion of the call.
