The #7 ranked Class A Crookston Pirates Girls Tennis team wrapped up a busy week today with a quadrangular down in Alexandria. The Pirates fell in the first match of the day to Osakis 3-4, but bounced back and ended the day with wins over Alexandria 5-2, and Detroit Lakes 7-0.
CROOKSTON VS OSAKIS –
The Pirates suffered a tight loss in their first match of the day to the Osakis Silverstreaks. Osakis won three of the four singles matches and the #1 doubles match.
Winning the only singles match for the Pirates was Brekken Tull who won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. The doubles team of Isabelle Smith and Emma Gunderson also won in the #2 doubles spot 6-1, 6-0, and the duo of Addie Fee and Jenna Seaver picked up a win at #3 doubles 6-4, 7-6 (9-7).
The Pirates did lose three of their matches in straight sets but easily could’ve won the match still. Abby Borowicz went to a third set tiebreaker at #3 singles after splitting the first two sets and would fall to Osakis’s Bria Hofforth in the tiebreaker 10-5.
For Crookston, it was just their third loss of the season.

CROOKSTON VS ALEXANDRIA –
The Pirates bounced back strong in their second match of the day defeating Alexandria 5-2. This time it was the Pirates winning three of the four singles matches. All seven of the matches were completed in straight sets.
Winning for the Pirates at #1 singles was Halle Winjum as she breezed by her opponent for a 6-0, 6-0 win. Alexandria would win the #2 singles slot but the Pirates would get a solid performance from Abby Borowicz at #3 singles as she would win her match 6-4, 6-2. Addie Fee got a chance to play singles and took advantage winning the at #4 singles 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles, the Pirates got a win from Halle Bruggeman and Emma Gunderson at #1 doubles as they took care of their opponents 6-4, 6-2. Also winning in doubles play for Crookston was Paige Abrahamson and Jenna Seaver as they defeated their opponents 6-4, 6-4 at #3 doubles. Alexandria would win #2 doubles, but the Pirates had done enough to win the match 5-2.
Moving to 2-0 on the day for Crookston were Addie Fee, Jenna Seaver, and Emma Gunderson.

CROOKSTON VS DETROIT LAKES –
In the last match of the day, the Pirates took on the Detroit Lakes Lakers. The two teams met yesterday with Crookston winning 7-0, and the Pirates moved their lineup around today. Even though the Pirates switched their lineup around, the result was the same, with Crookston winning 7-0.
Abby Borowicz was placed at #1 singles and won her match 6-2, 6-4. Isabelle Smith faced little resistance in her match, winning at #2 singles 6-0, 6-2, and Paige Abrahamson also won in straight sets at #4 singles 6-2, 6-2. Kaylie Clauson’s match at #3 singles was the only one that went to a third set. Clauson lost the first set 3-6, before winning set two 6-3. She would go on to win the tiebreaker in the third set 10-5, giving Crookston the sweep at singles.
In doubles, Halle Winjum got a crack after typically playing in the top spot in singles, and her and her teammate Emma Gunderson picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at #1 doubles. Brekken Tull typically plays singles as well, but played #2 doubles in this match with Halle Bruggeman, and the duo managed an easy 6-2, 6-0 victory. The #3 doubles team was a familiar pairing in Addie Fee and Jenna Seaver, and they capped off the sweep with a 5-7, 6-1, 10-6 victory.
Winning all three matches for Crookston today were Addie Fee, Jenna Seaver, and Emma Gunderson. Crookston ends 2-1 on the day and is now 8-3-1 on the season. The Pirates will be back in action hosting a triangular with Moorhead and Thief River Falls on Tuesday.
