The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Tennis team is 4-2-1 in duals on the season and ranked #7 in Minnesota State Class A team polls. Crookston edged the East Grand Forks Green Wave 4-3 in a match in late August and they took a 2-0 lead before the match was called because of rain.
Crookston’s wins came at fourth singles as Paige Abrahamson breezed a 6-1, 6-1 victory over the Wave’s Morgan McDonald. Abrahamson has been playing mostly third doubles so far this year and showed she is pretty good at singles.
The second victory came at third doubles with Brekken Tull and Jenna Seaver winning the first set 6-4 and then they cruised to a 6-0 victory in the second set for the win.
The match will be resumed at a later date.
