SENATOR MARK JOHNSON ANNOUNCES RE-ELECTION RUN

Senator Mark Johnson (R- East Grand Forks) announced his intention to run for re-election in the newly drawn Senate District 1 today. A five-member panel of judges released new legislative maps last Tuesday that will go into effect for the upcoming election. Sen. Johnson released the following statement:

“With the support of my wife and children, and many friends and constituents, I have decided to announce my run for re-election for the Minnesota Senate this fall. Over the past five and a half years, I have worked hard to represent the interests and values of Northwestern Minnesotans and am so proud of the District my family has called home for six generations.

We all know the challenges we face in rural Minnesota, but there are so many opportunities for us and our future generations. The fact that we have some of the best farms, manufacturers, businesses, schools, and people in the state and nation means that for those willing to tough out some cold weather, the opportunities are boundless.”

I look forward to the campaign season ahead and the opportunity to meet with new and old acquaintances throughout the year. Earning the trust of my constituents has been an enormous honor, and I look forward to continuing my work at the Minnesota State Senate to make our corner of Minnesota a better place for the future.”

Johnson is in his second term in the Senate; he was first elected in 2016. He currently serves as the Chair of the Redistricting Committee. He lives in East Grand Forks with his wife Skyler and their three children.

The newly drawn District 1 encompasses Kittson, Norman, Marshall, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, Roseau, and part of Clay counties.
