MISSY RICORD IS THE WINNER OF THE 2023 UNITED WAY GOLF BALL DROP

The United Way of Crookston and Crookston Fire Department reunited for the United Way Golf Ball Drop. The event took place at 4:30 pm Wednesday at the UMC campus. Two courageous firefighters stood on top of the fire truck’s ladder, waiting for the go-ahead to dump hundreds of golf balls while aiming at a hula hoop in the grass. When the balls were picked up, four winners were announced. The champion of this year’s United Way Golf Drop was Missy Ricord, who received a cash prize of $250; coming in second place was Jack Hanson receiving a $50 bonus; in third place was Amber Hulst, who won $20.

The annual Ox Cart Days Ice Cream Social was held on Wednesday afternoon. UMC staff ran a booth serving bowls of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream with water, lemonade, and a live music performance. Although it had rained earlier in the day before Ice Cream Social started, the weather cleared up, and it became a pretty warm sunny afternoon just in time for folks that attended to enjoy a cold tasty treat.
