CROOKSTON GIRL’S TENNIS SHUTS OUT MOORHEAD

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Tennis team dominated the Moorhead Spuds in a 7-0 dual victory played in Moorhead. One of the day’s highlights was former coach and current North Dakota National Guard member Cody Brekken stopping by to watch the match.

CROOKSTON VS MOORHEAD
Crookston won six of the seven matches in straight sets and improved on a 4-3 victory on September 12.

SINGLES-
Brekken Tull had a hard-fought victory at first singles when she won the first set 6-2. The second set was tight, but Tull came up short 6-4 to force a third set. Brekken continued her solid play and outlasted her opponent for a 7-5 victory in the set to win the match.
Isabelle Smith also had a hard-fought match at second singles with a 6-3 first set win. Smith won another close battle in the second set by a 6-4 score to win the match in straight sets.
The last two singles matches were won easily by Crookston. Paige Abrahamson continues her outstanding season at third singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Ashlyn Bailey continues to show great improvement at fourth singles as she won 6-1, 6-0 to give the Pirates a sweep of all four singles matches. 

DOUBLES-
The Pirate duo of Kaylie Clauson and Emma Gunderson dominated their match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. 
The second doubles match was the closest as Addie Fee and Morgan Nelson won a good battle in the first set 6-3. In the second set, it was another battle as Fee and Nelson picked up the hard-fought 6-4 victory to win the match in two tough straight sets.
Georgia Sanders and Coral Brekken teamed up at third doubles to win a great back-and-forth first set 6-4. In the second set, Sanders and Brekken played outstanding tennis and won 6-2 for the victory and a sweep of the doubles matches.

Crookston improves to 11-5 on the year and will host Park Rapids and Roseau on Saturday.
