Withholding Tax Quarterly Return and Deposit Are Due July 31.
The second quarter (April – June 2024) Minnesota Withholding Tax return is due July 31. Deposits are due according to your semiweekly or monthly deposit schedule.
Exception: You may make your deposit by July 31, 2024, if:
- You withheld $1,500 or less of Minnesota withholding tax in the first quarter (January – March 2024)
- You filed your first quarter withholding tax return on time

Minnesota Revenue requires certain forms to be completed annually:
- Form MWR, Reciprocity Exemption/Affidavit of Residency for Tax Year 2024, is an annual election for North Dakota and Michigan employees working in Minnesota. Employers must mail this form to us annually.
- Form W-4MN, Minnesota Withholding Allowance/Exemption Certificate. Employees must elect exempt status annually. If the employee makes more than $200 per week and claims exemption, employers must mail this form to us. Form W-4MN instructions are also available in Spanish.
