Climax-Fisher wins 7th straight match in win over Crookston Pirate Volleyball

The Climax-Fisher Knights have won seven matches in a row after an impressive 3-0 (25-6, 25-18, 25-9) victory over the Crookston Pirate Volleyball team in a match played in Climax.

FIRST SET
Climax-Fisher had a great start to the match as they scored the first five points for a 5-0 lead. Crookston’s first point came on a Allysen Wagner kill and the Knights hit into the net and the Pirates trailed 5-2. Climax-Fisher responded with six straight points with two kills from Emma Shultes, and a kill apiece from Peyton Hoffman, Lucy Paulsrud, and Kinley Korynta. Combined with a Crookston error it was an 11-2 Knight lead. Crookston’s Maddi Abrams stopped the run with a kill before the Knights hit into the net and the Pirates trailed 11-4. Crookston served out of bounds and that sparked a Climax-Fisher 13-0 run which was fueled by Peyton Hoffman recording five aces over the next six points. Paulsrud added a kill in that span and the Knights led 18-4. The run continued with a Brooklyn Hoffman kill, three Pirate attack errors, an Emma Schultes kill, and another Peyton Hoffman ace for a 24-4 lead. The Knights served out of bounds and Crookston’s Rilynn Aubol had a kill before Climax-Fisher’s
Lucy Paulsrud had a big kill to give Climax-Fisher a 25-6 victory.

SECOND SET
In the second set, Climax-Fisher jumped out to a 4-1 lead with kills from Paulsrud and Brooklyn Hoffman. The Knights continued to build on their lead behind Claire Erickson and an ace from Kinley Korynta for an 11-4 lead. The Knights started to insert some players from the bench and that threw off their rythm a bit and Crookston took advantage with a Morgan Boll kill. The Knights hit out of bounds five times and all of a sudden Crookston trailed 13-10. The teams battled back and forth and Climax-Fisher led 21-17 when the Pirates were called for a lift, Brookly Hoffman had a kill. After a Pirate kill to get within a 23-18 deficit, Climax-Fisher’s Claire Erickson and Anna Nesvig had kills for a 25-18 victory to take a 2-0 lead.

THIRD SET
Climax-Fisher jumped out to a 7-1 lead and the set started with a Kinley Korynta ace and a Peyton Hoffman kill. The Knights led 4-1 when they had a block from Payton Hoffman, a Brooklyn Hoffman kill, and a Schultes kill for the 7-1 lead. The Knights continued to build on the lead and took a 15-3 lead while Peyton Hoffman had another ace and a kill, Peyton Schroeder added a kill mixed in with Crookston errors and the Knights led big. They continued to pull away with the continued well-balanced attack and cruised to a 25-9 victory.

Crookston drops to 1-13 on the year and will take on Win-E-Mac in Erskine on Monday night. Climax-Fisher improves to 10-7 on the year and will be at Mahnomen/Waubun on Tuesday.
