The Crookston Pirate Girls Hockey team looks to end their regular season on a high when they take on the Roseau Rams this afternoon at the Crookston Sports Center, in a makeup game that was originally scheduled on January 23rd. The game starts at 3:00, and you can watch the Riverview Health Pregame Show at 2:30 PM on KROX TV.
Crookston is 6-16 on the year.
FIRST PERIOD
As the period started, both offenses looked like they were there to play, as each team got a shot on goal, but from there Roseau took complete control. They dominated puck possession and stymied every chance the Pirates had. Early in the period, a Pirate interference call put the Rams on the power play, but Madi Abrams in net stopped all 3 shots she faced on the power play to keep the Rams off the board. The Pirates were unable to muster anything on offense, however, and then they committed another penalty. Though the Rams got 3 more shots on goal, Abrams was able to make all the stops she needed. In the final few minutes, Abrams stopped a breakaway and then made a beautiful save on a deflected shot, meaning that even though the Rams led 14-3 in shots on goal, the period ended scoreless.
