Crookston American Legion Baseball open season with two losses to Fargo Post 2

The Crookston American Legion Baseball team opened the season with a pair of losses to the Fargo Post 2 Jets on Monday evening in Fargo by 12-2 and 5-3 scores.

FIRST INNING-
Crookston had a good start to the season with their two super seniors leading the way as Parker Kelly doubled and Matt Contreras singled. Nolan Cassavant singled to score two runs for a 2-0 lead to start the game.
Fargo responded with a double, a single, a pair of walks, and a passed ball to score three runs for a 3-2 lead after the first inning.

SECOND INNING-
The first two Crookston batters were retired before C. Cassavant singled. The next Crookston batter was retired.
Fargo’s first two batters were retired before a single. The next batter struck out and the inning was over.

THIRD INNING –
The first two Crookston batters were retired before Aiden Delage walked. The next batter struck out.
The leadoff Fargo batter reached on an error. After a strikeout, a run scored on a groundout for a 4-2 lead. The next batter grounded out.

FOURTH INNING-
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with three strikeouts.
Fargo added another run in the fourth inning with a hit batter and a single for a 5-2 lead before the next two batters were retired.

FIFTH INNING-
Crookston drew a lead-off walk before the next three batters were retired.
Fargo broke the game open with a single, double, hit batter, walk, hit batter, three singles and a fielder’s choice to score seven run and win the game 12-2 in five innings.

FIRST INNING
Crookston had another good start to game two as Contreras singled and Davin Janek singled to score a run for a 1-0 lead.
Fargo drew a one out walk before the next two batters were retired to end the inning.

SECOND INNING
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with two strikeouts and a lineout.
Fargo was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with two strikeouts and one groundout.

THIRD INNING –
Crookston’s C. Cassavant was hit by a pitch, and Kelly walked. The next two batters were retired before Janek singled to load the bases. The next batter struck out, and the Crookston threat was over.
Fargo had a pair of walks, but didn’t capitalize as Crookston got out of the jam.

FOURTH INNING-
Crookston’s Tarek Siegle led off the inning with a walk, Ethan Lanctot had a sacrifice bung and a run scored on an error to give Crookston a 2-0 lead. Another run scored on a sacrifice fly for a 3-0 lead.
Fargo was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with two fly outs and one groundout.

FIFTH INNING-
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with two groundouts and one flyout.
The first two Fargo batters were retired before a single, walk, and single to score two runs to get within a 3-2 deficit.

SIXTH INNING-
Crookston’s Siegle walked with one out before the next two batters were retired.
Fargo led off with a double and a single before an out on a fielder’s choice. The next batter singled to tie the game at 3-3. A walk and a sacrifice fly scored another run for a 4-3 lead. The next batter singled and Fargo took a 5-3 lead.

SEVENTH INNING-
Crookston needed at least two runs to keep the game going. Kelly walked with one out, but the next two batters were retired and Fargo won the second game by a 5-3 score.

Crookston drops to 0-2 on the year and will play at Fertile on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
