Crookston man wins the Pennington County demolition derby, as participants raise over $6,200 for “Crashing with Karter” cancer fundraiser

Hunter Cardinal of Crookston finished in first place at the Pennington County Fair’s demolition derby on July 19, as spectators and racers helped raise over $6,200 for the Crashing for Karter fundraiser.

The fundraiser was organized to support Karter Dallmann, a 14-year-old boy from Thief River Falls, who was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. He is set to undergo chemotherapy treatments in Fargo and a possible stem cell transplant at the Mayo Clinic over the next few months, and the community came together to organize the demolition derby and raise funds to help the Dallmann family with medical and travel costs.

Crashing for Karter organizers wish to thank WFO Derby Productions for their assistance with this event and all the participants in the demolition derby for helping support the Dallmann family during this difficult time.
