Janice Marie (Grega) Berndt of Apple Valley, California, formerly of Warren, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 8th.
Janice was born in Warren, Minnesota, on November 24th, 1947, to John and Mae Grega of Warren, MN.
She was the oldest of six children. She attended and graduated from the Warren High School where she was active in the music program, a member of the Warren High School band and choir. Janice then attended the Thief River Falls Trade School for Hair styling. She moved to Rochester, Minnesota and worked. Janice married and had three children. After getting divorced, she married the man of her dreams, Skip Berndt. They would have been married for thirty-nine years on December 26th of this year. She and Skip have a daughter, Zoe. After living in California for several years, they moved back to Minnesota. During the years in California, she worked at McDonnell/Douglas and the hospital, City of Hope.
She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Bonnie Janicke, her parents, John and Mae Grega and sister, Jane Grega. And brother-in-laws, Gary Peterson of Warren, MN and Ron Thompson of Ortonville, MN.
She is survived by her husband, Skip of Apple Valley, CA, daughter Zoe Berndt of Chorley, England, and twin sons, Keith (Lisa) Janicke of Roseau, MN and Kent Janicke of Pillager, MN, sisters, Marlyce Thompson of Ortonville, MN, Joan Peterson of Warren, MN and Marcia(David) Meine of Crookston, MN. And one brother, Merlin (Mary) of Blackhawk, SD. And several grand children: Michael, Joe, Craig, Jasmine, and Mya, Michaela, Molly and Maddi, and Parker and Maysyn. And sixteen great-grand children. Several nephews: Michael Person, Matthew, Elizabeth and James Thompson, John known as JP, Grant and Jarrod Peterson, Crystal and Brandon Meine. And one aunt, Janice Engelstad of Biwabik, MN and several cousins. Janice will be cremated and her ashes scattered over the Pacific Ocean.
There will be a Memorial Service on Wednesday, August 26 th from 5 to 7 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.
