The Crookston Ways and Means Committee will have a special meeting on Wednesday, September 16, at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
The committee will discuss capital improvement projects (CIP) and non-profit grant allocations. The committee reviewed presentations from the following non-profit organizations during the August 17 Ways and Means meeting:
- Tri-Valley Opportunity Council requested $19,000 for operating/capital expenses
- Oakdale Cemetery Association requested $10,000 for the purchase of a lawnmower and repairs to a backhoe
- Crookston Aquatic Boosters/Ox Cart Days requested $6,000 for a fireworks contract and general fund
- Benedictine Living Community/Villa St. Vincent requested $10,000 for the purchase and integration of a new nurse call integration system
- Polk County Scruffy Tails Humane Society requested $20,000 for help with essential costs and operating expenses
- Care and Share Crookston, Inc. requested $20,000 for general operating expenses
- Crookston Area Seniors Association (Golden Link) requested $97,000 for operating expenses
The next Ways and Means Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 21, immediately following the City Council meeting in the council chambers at City Hall.
