The KROX Radio Athlete of the Week is Crookston Pirates Girl’s Hockey player, Nora Peterson, a junior forward from Mayville, playing in her second season with the Pirate varsity hockey team. Nora has helped lead the Pirates to a 5-7 start to the season including wins in four of their last six games. Peterson leads Crookston with 11 points this season, scoring 8 goals while recording 3 assists. Just last week in 3 games, Peterson scored 5 goals as the Pirates beat Bemidji and Detroit Lakes while falling 6-5 against defending Section 6A champion, Fergus Falls. “I can’t say enough about Nora,” added Crookston head coach Tim Moe. “She comes from Mayville every day to work and she works hard. She’s a great teammate for everybody and tries to make everybody better even to the detriment of herself and her own points. She’s really taken the initiative the past week and shown everybody the talent level she does have.”
Nora is a three-sport athlete and was a member of the Mayville-Portland volleyball team this fall and has been a three-time state Track and Field participant. She is also involved with FBLA.
