James “Jim” Earl Gustafson, 78, of Crookston, MN, passed away Wednesday evening, May 4, 2022, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with his loving family at his side. Jim was born in Crookston on November 14, 1943, the second of 3 children of the union of Earl R. and Mildred L. (Larson) Gustafson.
The Crookston Pirate Girls and Boys Track teams “hosted” the Crookston Pirate Invitational Track meet at East Grand Forks and there were a lot of good teams while the girls finished sixth out of 14 teams with East Grand Forks winning the meet. The Sacred Heart Eagles lost to Thompson 5-2 earlier on Thursday afternoon before coming over to Crookston to beat the Pirate baseball team 14-8 at Jim Karn Field. Sacred Heart got things going in the top of the first inning when lead-off batter Cullen Rohrich reached on an error. He stole second and third base.
