Dozens filtered in and out of the community room at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Friday afternoon to celebrate the retirement of Sheriff Barb Erdman. Erdman says she is going to miss her co-workers and the interactions with the community. “I’ll miss all the people I work with, the opportunity to interact with the citizens, it’s been a wonderful career for me as I’ve enjoyed it with no regrets,” said Erdman. “The sendoff today was just amazing, I’m almost overwhelmed. I didn’t expect to see so much support.”
Erdman also said it’s a little different from going to work in the morning and thanked the community for coming out to support her. The Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force also presented Erdman (pictured below) with a plaque thanking her for her leadership in helping the task force grow over the past 10 years.
