On September 9, at approximately 12:40 a.m., a Polk County Deputy located a vehicle in a field of Section 27 of Lowell Township, approximately 2 miles west of Crookston on County Road 61. The Deputy attempted to make contact with the vehicle. While approaching the vehicle, it proceeded to take off into the field. The Deputy initiated a pursuit with the vehicle across the field. The vehicle continued through the field with its lights off. The Deputy lost track of the vehicle but was able to follow the tracks left in the field. The vehicle was located in a culvert after it had crashed. The driver of the vehicle fled from the vehicle. A K9 Unit was brought in and was not able to locate the driver at the time of the incident. This case under investigation and no other information will be released at this time.
