Chad D. Ystebo – OBIT

Chad D. Ystebo, 50, Borup, MN, formerly of Fargo, ND, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Fargo VA Hospital in Fargo. He fought a long and hard fight when diagnosed with progressive aphasia and dementia.

Chad was born on September 6, 1973, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo, ND, to Hilda (Hennen) Miiller and David Ystebo.

He attended Fargo North High School and graduated in 1992. He attended Moorhead State Community and Technical College for 2 years and received a certificate in heating and air conditioning.

Chad joined the ND Army National Guard on July 5, 2005, and retired on August 15, 2020.

His passions included Bison Football and traveling to Frisco, TX, when they played in the championship game, fishing on Lake Lida, traveling to Hawaii, watching the Vikings, the ND Army National Guard, and his 1984 Camero.

Chad is survived by his son, Dylan (Natalie) Ystebo, Augusta, GA; parents, Hilda (Leon) Miiller, Borup, MN, and David (Rita) Ystebo, Fargo, ND; siblings, Lance (Karen) Ystebo, Eau Claire, WI, DJ (Anna) Ystebo, Fargo, ND, and Derek (Ashley) Ystebo, Fargo, ND; grandmother, Della Ystebo Hoff, Fargo, ND; nephews, Dalton, Dallas, and Dakota Ystebo; and goddaughter, Kali Ann Wold, Moorhead, MN.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey Ystebo, and Helen and Clyde Hennen; aunts, Zora (Hennen) Hagel, and Patricia (Ystebo) Aarestad; and great aunt Eleanor Barnes.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the VA nurses on unit 4B for providing excellent care and loving Chad.

Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Hope Lutheran Church (North Campus), Fargo, ND.

Visitation: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Winchester Lutheran Church, Borup, MN. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at Hope Lutheran Church on Thursday.

Interment with full military rites: Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
