CHS SPEECH TEAM BEGINS TOURNAMENT SEASON WITH MEDALS AT FERGUS FALLS

The CHS Speech team kicked off their tournament season by competing at Fergus Falls this past Saturday. Crookston was one of seventeen schools competing at the tournament, and three students walked away with medals.

Samantha Rezac took first place in Storytelling, Zac Plante advanced to honors finals and took second place in Humorous Interpretation with his script “How to Succeed In High School Without Really Trying,” and Shayla Azure advanced to honors finals and took fifth place in Humorous Interpretation with her script “1-800”. 

The team has grown a lot this year, and many students (both returning members and new) competed at Fergus Falls. Other students who competed included:

Ivan Luckow in Creative Expression, Lincoln Waldal, Maddie Harbott, and Tessa Weber in Discussion, Thor Harbott and Jack Anderson in Duo Interpretation, Shayla Azure and Hayley Leckie in Dramatic Interpretation, Julia Buhler in Great Speeches, Taylor Wieland in Informative Speaking, Brandon Wandrie in Original Oratory, and Ciaran Mulvey in Serious Prose Interpretation.

Next week the team will compete at DGF.
