City of Crookston reminds residents of Weeds and Grass ordinance

With the grass growing again, the City of Crookston reminds residents to take care of their property, weeds, and grass.

City Code Section 94.35, Weeds and Grass, directs owners and occupants of property within the City to cut and remove all weeds, whether noxious or not, and all grass outside the travel portion of any street or alley adjacent to the property having attained a height of six inches. If weeds are not so cut and removed or if the grass is not so cut, the City may do so at the expense of the owner and occupant, and if not paid, the charge for such work may be made a special assessment against the property.

Mowing Violations: (in Calendar Year)
First Violation $25.00 plus the cost of mowing
Second Notification Fee $50.00
Second Violation $50.00 plus the cost of mowing
Third Notification Fee $50.00
Third Violation $100.00 plus the cost of mowing
Subsequent Notification Fee $50.00
Subsequent Violations $200.00 plus the cost of mowing
