CLIMAX-FISHER VOLLEYBALL BEATS CROOKSTON IN THREE SETS

The Climax-Fisher Knights Volleyball team started each set strong and beat the Crookston Pirates by a score of 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-13).

FIRST SET
Climax-Fisher started the set on a 7-0 run with two kills from Peyton Hoffman and two aces from Ella Paulsrud. Crookston responded with a 3-0 run to make it 7-3 Knights. The following few points were back and forth before Climax-Fisher’s Sophia Nesvig got a kill to start a 4-0 run. Joey Nesseth had great net play to get a point for Crookston to make it 12-6. That started Crookston’s 3-0 run that included a Nesseth ace. It was 13-9 when Climax-Fisher went on a 5-0 run featuring an ace from Ava Larson. Crookston got a point before the Knights went on a 4-0 run. Mackenzie Funk got a kill to end the run and make it 22-11. Climax-Fisher finished off the set, winning the last three points, including an Ella Paulsrud ace to win 25-12.

SECOND SET
Climax-Fisher started the second set, winning nine of the first 10 points, including a kill from Hoffman and an ace from Lucy Paulsrud. Crookston responded with a 4-0 run, including a kill from Makenna Kopecky and a block from Nesseth to make it 9-5. The two teams traded points, including Naomi Johnson winning a point before the Knights won three of the following four points. Kristine Bernd got a kill for Crookston, and Claire Erickson got a kill for Climax-Fisher to make it 13-9. Two points later, the Knights went on a 3-0 run, featuring two kills from Hoffman. Crookston responded with a 3-0, including a kill from LaPlante to make it 17-13. Climax-Fisher closed out the set with an 8-0 run, including two aces from Lucy Paulsrud, to win 25-13 and take a 2-0 match lead.

THIRD SET
Climax-Fisher started the third set with a 4-0 run, including a kill from Hoffman. Nesseth got a kill to end the run, but Climax-Fisher won the following three points to take an early 7-1 lead. Crookston got a point before Climax-Fisher won the next three points, including a Lucy Paulsrud ace, to make it 10-2 Knights. The following few points were back and forth before a Larson ace started another 3-0 run for Climax-Fisher to make it 14-4. The following few points were back and forth, including a LaPlante kill to make it 16-6. Crookston went on a 3-0 run before the Knights responded with a 3-0 run to make it 19-8. Crookston got a point before Climax-Fisher won two straight off of a Halle Reitmeier kill and a Nesvig ace to make it 21-9. Crookston got a point before the Knights won the next two to make it 23-10. Crookston went on a 3-0 run to make it 23-13 before Reitmeier got a kill to end the run, and Meah Marshall got a block to complete the set at 25-13, giving the Knights the 3-0 victory.

Crookston falls to 2-19 on the season and hosts Roseau tomorrow for their final game of the regular season. Climax-Fisher improves to 13-12 and hosts Ada-Borup West tomorrow for their final game of the regular season.
