COAUETTE FINISHES SECOND, HLUCNY FINISHES FOURTH AT THE MINNEWASKA TOURNAMENT

The Crookston Pirate Wrestling team competed at the Minnewaska Tournament. Five total wrestlers competed, and two of them finished in the top four. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa won the team portion with 204.5 points. Crookston finished 10th with a total of 42.0 points.

PIRATE INDIVIDUAL TOP FINISHES-
Carter Coauette wrestled at 172 pounds and won his first round match against Daniel Callahan with a pin at 1:43. Coauette went on to win his second round match against Connor Plumski of Albany in a 5-2 decision to clinch his spot in the championship match. In the finals, Coauette fell to Maximus Hanson of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in a 5-0 decision to finish in second place.

Gavin Hlucny wrestled at 139 pounds and won his first round against Dylan Hoffarth with a pin at 1:31. In the second round, Hlucny fell to Grayson Gibson of MAHACA in an 11-7 decision and fell to the consolation side of the bracket. Hlucny’s first match in the consolation bracket was a win over Mason Breeggemann of Scott West in a 6-3 decision to clinch a spot in the third-place match. In the third-place match, Hlucny fell to Joey Wilczek of Little Falls to finish in 4th place.
