CROOKSTON AQUATIC BOOSTERS TO HOST FIRST ANNUAL POOL-A-THON EVENT ON SATURDAY, APRIL 20

The Crookston Aquatic Boosters is gearing up to host the first-ever Pool-A-Thon event at the Crookston public pool on Saturday, April 20. This will serve as a fundraiser to offer intermediate assistance for major repairs at the pool. This will help assist the city through donations toward meeting certain costs.

“This event will consist of three registered teams,” said Aquatic Booster member Cindy Hulst, “This team of three will either swim or water walk. Or tread water for thirty minutes. We want this to appeal to all age groups at all levels. Some people are not swimmers, but they may want to walk, and we may have people just walk outside the building if they choose to do so.”

The goal of this event and other upcoming events for the boosters is to make the public aware of the community pool and that it can be a great asset for the community. The usage numbers of the pool over the last two months have increased in contrast to the later months of 2023. “I talked to Jake (Soldberg) at Parks and Rec, and they’re seeing increases in usage across the board,” said Aquatic Booster member Carol Gregg, “With all of their activities. As a pool user, that’s what I’m seeing too.”

The Pool-A-Thon event will include food and fun, competitive activities throughout the day. Open swim will take place following the event, which will be sponsored by Pam Ecklund. “Registration is still open, and walk-ins are welcomed,” said Gregg, “People can come and register individually if they don’t have a team. The team part makes it fun, and if you have a team, and your boss has a team, maybe you need to challenge that situation.” Gregg laughingly remarked.

Registration is preferred to be completed before the day of the event. Those interested in attending can fill out registration forms at the Crookston Parks and Rec office, now at the Crookston Sports Center. You may also visit the Crookston Community Pool, Fin & Fit Crookston’s Facebook page, or email finfitcrookston@gmail.com. If you have questions, please call 701-787-1352. The registration fee for the teams of three is $300 or $100 per person.
