CROOKSTON BOYS GOLF FINISHES TIED FOR 3RD AT CROOKSTON INVITE

The Crookston Pirate Boy’s Golf team finished tied for third place at the Pirate Invitational held at the Minakwa Golf Course in Crookston.  The Roseau Rams had the top three individual scores and cruised to the team victory while shooting an impressive 309.  “Roseau has a very good team this year,” said Crookston Coach Steve Kofoed. “They all golfed well and will be one of the top teams in the section this year.”

Crookston shot a 350, three strokes behind second-place Thief River Falls.  “We golfed well today.  We saw improvement from last week and you would expect that going from the Legacy Course to our home course at Minakwa,” said Coach Kofoed. “The guys were hitting the ball better and did better around the greens and all improved on their rounds from the first outing so that was nice to see.”

Kaleb Thingelstad led Crookston with an 81, the second time he has led the Pirates this season. “Kaleb was disappointed with a couple of his holes, but he had some good holes too,” said Coach Kofoed. “He golfed well and turned in a good round, almost getting into the 70’s, so that was good to see.”  Blaine Andringa had a solid round with an 83. “Blaine was consistent throughout his round,” said Coach Kofoed. “He had a couple of birdies and a couple of double-bogey’s and the rest was par or bogey golf.  He had a good round today.”
Jaxon Wang and Brannon Tangquist shot sub-100 rounds with a 90 and 96 respectively.  Gavin Anderson had his best round of the season with a 100 and Garrett Fischer, a seventh-grader) shot a 106 in his first-ever varsity meet. “He played well, especially when you consider it was his first round of the year and first varsity meet,” said Coach Kofoed. “He had a good round and has a starting point for the rest of the season.”

Crookston will travel to Fergus Falls on Friday.
