CROOKSTON GIRL’S GOLF WIN THE EGF INVITE, LEACH EARNS MEDALIST HONORS

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Golf team had its best score of the season with a 390 to win the East Grand Forks Green Wave Invitational at the Valley Golf Course in East Grand Forks.  East Grand Forks was runner-up, 29 strokes behind Crookston.   Crookston’s Joslynn Leach was the medalist with an 88, eight strokes ahead of her teammate and runner-up, Hannah Brouse.

“This was our best team score of the year so far,” said Pirate Coach Jeff Perreault. “We still haven’t reached our goal of four girls under 100 yet, but we had the medalist and runner-up and that helped lead us to our best round of the year.”

Crookston brought 12 golfers to the meet with a lot of solid scores.

Joslynn Leach had her best round of the season with an 88 to take home medalist honors.  Leach had eight pars and seven bogeys, a double bogey, and two triple bogeys.  “She played very well and she even said her putting was on fire at one point,” said Coach Perreault. “It was a very nice round and it was just a few holes that hurt her, but she is playing some of her best golf at the right time of the year.”

Hannah Brouse had another solid round and shot a 96, good for second place individually.  She parred five holes and had a bogey on five of the holes on her best 10 holes. “She has put together a nice little run of scores in the 90’s,” said Coach Perreault. “She is finding a groove right now and her goal is to be under 95.”

Crookston had five golfers shoot anywhere from 102 to 109.  That is kind of the way it has been for us this year,” said Coach Perreault. “We have a bunch of girls that are playing pretty decent and we’re going to have a tough time figuring out who will make the tournament squad at the end of the year.”

Crookston will travel to the Bagley Invitational at Twin Pines Golf Course on Wednesday.
