The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Swimming team had a strong showing with eight top-three finishes at the Fosston-Bagley Invitational in Fosston. Fosston-Bagley won the event with 337 points besting Perham/New York Mills bu 21 points. Crookston finished in third place out of four teams with 138 points, 33 points ahead of Staples-Motley.
Madison Hoiland led the Pirates with a pair of first-place finishes. Hoiland continued her dominance in her two best individual events winning the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 27.60. Hoiland also took first in the 100-Yard Breaststroke finishing in 1:17.54. Mackenzie Aamoth had Crookston’s lone second-place finish in the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:21.01. Crookston’s two relay teams both earned third place finished as well. Mackenzie Aamoth, Madison Hoiland, Claire Oman, and Fallon Johnson swam the 200-yard medley relay to open the meet with a time of 2:17.53. Fallon Johnson, Mackenzie Aamoth, Claire Oman, and Madison Hoiland combined for a 4:30.55 finish to take third place in the 400-Yard Freestyle relay. Fallon Johnson added a pair of third-place finishes in the 200-Yard Freestyle and 500-Yard Freestyle with times of 2:27.11 and 6:31.62, respectively. Claire Oman had Crookston’s only other top-three finish in the 10-Yard Freestyle swimming in 1:09.61.
Crookston returns to the pool on Thursday when the Pirates host Fosston-Bagley for a dual starting at 5:30 P.M.
