CROOKSTON GIRLS SWIMMERS COMPETE FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON

Crookston High School only had four girls come out for swimming this year and new Activities Director Nate Lubarski did some scrambling.  He was able to talk with Fosston Activities Director Ryan Hanlon and they worked out a coop agreement that would allow the Crookston girls to compete with the Fosston-Bagley team.  The team’s name is Fosston/Bagley/Crookston and the first competition of the 2022 season was the Bemidji Pentathalon at the Bemidji High School pool.

In the pentathlon, the swimmers compete in five events and the top swimmers get more points the higher they place.  Crookston was led by Chloe Boll who finished in a tie for 32nd place with four points.  Only 36 girls recorded points in the event.  The meet was won by Detroit Lakes’ Faith Hanson with 110 points, one point better than Taylor Ziemke of Perham.

One other name of note in the top 36 was former Pirate swimmer, Naomi Olson.  She is the daughter of former Crookston Superintendent Jeremy Olson who took the Superintendent job in Bemidji and now his daughters are swimming for the Lumberjacks.  Olson finished 29th place with six points.

We are waiting for the full event results and will add the rest of the Crookston results when we get them.
