CROOKSTON GIRL’S TENNIS CRUISES TO WIN AT EAST GRAND FORKS

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Tennis team had another solid outing and beat the East Grand Forks Green Wave 5-2 in a match played in East Grand Forks.  “It was good to see us come away with a 5-2 win today,” said Pirate Coach Cody Brekken. “Most of the girls are playing some consistent tennis for us right now.”

Halle Winjum won the first match of the day while cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at third singles to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead. “Our singles line up is pretty solid,” said Coach Brekken. “Halle never lets up and got after it today.”
The third doubles team, a cousin duo of Macy Fee and Addie Fee won their match 6-1, 6-0 to give Crookston a 2-0 lead. “They were a little nervous right away,” said Coach Brekken. “They started to take control and control the net and got the win.”
Crookston took a 3-0 lead when Brekken Tull won a hard-fought first set 6-4 and cruised to a 6-0 second set victory to give the Pirates a 3-0 lead.  “Brekken outlasted her opponent.  She came out a little nervous and started to pick up her play,” said Coach Brekken. “She played consistently for us today.”
