CROOKSTON GIRL’S GOLF FINISH 1ST AND TIED FOR THIRD AT MINAKWA

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Golf team finished first and tied for third in the North Fore Conference Triangular played at Minakwa Golf Course in Crookston.  The Pirate Blue team won the invite by 28 strokes over East Grand Forks and the Pirate Gold team finished in a tie for third place.  Crookston’s Catherine Tiedemann was the medalist with an 84, four strokes better than her teammate, Joslynn Leach. “Catherine was consistent and hit the ball well and put the ball in play,” said Pirate Coach Jeff Perreault. “Joslynn was putting the ball well and had a couple of big numbers that inflated her score a bit.”
Roseau wasn’t able to make the meet so all four conference teams didn’t make it, but they will still count the meet as a conference meet.  And take away the penalties, it was a good day of golf for the Pirates.
“I think we could have golfed better, to be honest.  Most of the girls weren’t happy with their score today. There were a lot of penalties, water, out of bounds and things like that today that hurt us,” said Coach Perreault.  “Roseau wasn’t able to attend today so it wasn’t a full conference meet, but we still counted it as one. Overall it wasn’t a bad day, we got some more golf in and the girls know they can do better and were talking about it so that is good to see and hear.”
Crookston will travel to the Warroad Invitational on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
