CROOKSTON GIRL’S TENNIS TEAM FALLS TO EGF

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Tennis team won all three doubles matches, but the East Grand Forks Green Wave won all four singles matches for a 4-3 victory in a dual played in East Grand Forks. It was the first time since 2019 that the Green Wave beat the Pirates in girl’s tennis.

CROOKSTON VS EAST GRAND FORKS
East Grand Forks took an early 1-0 lead when Karlee Walsh beat Crookston’s Calleigh Fanfulik at fourth singles.
At third singles, Crookston’s Paige Abrahamson lost the first set 6-3 before bouncing back to win the second set 7-6, forcing a third set. In the tie-breaker, EGF’s Erin Bowman won the set 7-3 to win the match, and the Green Wave had a 2-0 lead.
Crookston bounced back to tie the match after winning the second and third doubles. Addie Fee and Morgan Nelson made quick work of their second doubles match, winning the first set 6-3, and coasting to a 6-1 second-set victory.
Georgia Sanders and Coral Brekken had a three-set battle at third doubles, winning the first set 6-3. They lost the second set 7-6 before winning the third set tie-breaker 7-2 to tie the team score at 2-2.
Crookston’s doubles stayed strong as Emma Gunderson and Kaylie Clauson would win their 1st doubles match 6-2, 6-2, giving Crookston the 3-2 lead in the team score. It would come down the 1st and 2nd singles, and it would be Emma Farder beating Brekken Tull 6-3, 7-5 and Ruby Leach beating Isabelle Smith 6-4, 6-3, which gave the Green Wave the 4-3 victory.

Crookston falls to 6-2 on the season and heads to the Detroit Lakes Triangular on Friday.
