CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR & ORCHESTRA TO HOLD CLASSIC NOEL SUNDAY

The Crookston High Choir & Orchestra will hold it’s 20th Annual Classic Noel Concert at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are still available for the concert only and will be sold at the door.  The cost is $4 for adults and $3 for students.  The dinner prepared and served by Drafts, for those with dinner tickets will begin at 6:00 p.m., with doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Haley Ellis, Orchestra Director, said she is excited for the Orchestra to perform the “Christmas Symphony” from the pieces they will play.  “This year the Orchestra has planned a ‘Christmas Symphony’, which is a play on the ‘Hide & Surprise Symphony’,” said Ellis.  “I’m really excited about it.  This is the kind of music I like.  It’s a classic with the stuff you’re expecting but then also some little fun things thrown in the middle you have to listen for.  And some other classics like ‘White Christmas’, and my favorite thing is from ‘The Sound of Music’.”

Gabrielle Foede, Choir Director, said the full choir will perform three pieces including “O, Holy Night.” “I’m really excited about the choir music too,” said Foede.  “We have three pieces for the full choir.  Our first is a slower, more traditional choir Christmas piece that probably won’t be familiar to a lot of people.  Then we’re going to switch it up and do a fast-paced Puerto Rican Christmas Carol in Spanish which is full of energy.  Our last piece is a beautiful arrangement of ‘O Holy Night’ which I’m excited about.  It’s got some really good stuff written in there.”

The concert will end with a combined piece that involves the audience as well, said Ellis. “As the usual traditional we’ll end with the combined choir and orchestra piece,” said Ellis. “That’s always an audience favorite.  They join in singing ‘Silent Night’ in there and it’s just a great way to end the concert.”
