Crookston High School Drama Club to perform “Clue” April 11-13

The Crookston High School Drama Department will present the murder mystery “Clue” on Friday, April 11; Saturday, April 12; and Sunday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Tickets are available for purchase from students and are available at the door on show nights.  The ticket price is $8 for adults and $5 for students.

Beth Carlson is the director again this year and explained how Clue was the chosen play for this spring. “I’ve never done this show before. It’s always fun to do a show you have never done,” says Director Beth Carlson. “I don’t think I had “a clue,” how busy this show is. It’s been crazy, but it’s been a lot of fun to put this together. It’s a lot of work, but it’s a very fast-paced show.” Clue is fast-paced, full of humor, a who-done-it, and and has multiple scene changes. “The Clue game, if you are familiar with it, you have the iconic murder weapons that come up in our show as well, and who did it in which room, with what?” says Carlson. “The colors of the characters: Phyllis Hagen has done a nice job pulling those out in our characters, so you will see those. I’m not going to say who did which murder or if there is more than one murder because you will find that out in the conclusion.”

For this production, Carlson says she is very lucky to have had an assistant. “This is so fun. This year, an alumnus who was in all of our shows when she was in high school, Allison Reinhart, is from Crookston. She has been just such a God send,” says Carlson. “She’s got a great eye and works so well with the kids. Great suggestions and has done a lot of the directing.  She is very enthusiastic and is getting married ten days after the show, so I don’t know how she does all this.”

As with all other extracurricular activities, putting an event like this together is a lot of hard work and dedication by not only the students and directors but also their families. “I have to applaud these kids and their families,” says Carlson. “The families giving them support to do this kind of production cause, we are seven days a week if you count the set days, and some of the kids do have to come to those. It is a huge commitment, and most of them have been there all the time. It’s a team show, and I am just so happy with the team that we have had for this. Kudos to our cast and crew. We appreciate you.”
