CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL MULTI-USE FACILITY PROJECT GOING AS PLANNED

Construction of Crookston High School’s new multi-use sports facility began earlier in the year, and the project is progressing well.

The project began on April 15, 2024, with the initial groundbreaking of the area. The original deadline set for the overall project was for when Crookston High School hosts its first football game of the season.

The construction site currently has many moving pieces. This week, the major update will be the addition of light posts for the multi-use facility.

“Things are going well right now, but we’ve had a lot of rain. Right now, at this point, June 25, we are still on track to hopefully have this ready to go by the first home football game on September 13,” said Crookston Superintendent of Schools, Randy Bergquist. “Probably tomorrow, they are supposed to start putting in the light poles, and the electric work is being worked on. We already worked on the drain tile, so that’ll help for years down the road, but it will come with water, flooding, and different types of things like that. The drain tile is already put in,” said Bergquist. “My self and Nate Lubarski, our Activities Director, has also done a great job. We probably communicate every day, and during the evenings, we go up there to check the progress and take pictures. But so far, I am pleasantly surprised with the rain that we are still on track. If it rains 10 days out of the next 14, that could mean a different story, but my goal the whole time was to have this ready to go before the first home football game and first home soccer game.”

Remain work for the project is as follows-

  • General Work and Labor, such as framing, rock/tape, and partitions, began June 18 and will go on August 30
  • Electrical work began on April 22 and will go on until August 9
  • Earthwork started April 15 and will run through August 2
  • Concrete-building/Site Surfacing started on April 29 and will through July 9
  • Asphalt Paving started June 17 and will go on until July 30
  • Landscaping started August 5 and will go through August 9
  • Site Fencing started on April 22 and will go on until August 30
  • Sprint Turf installation to begin July 29-August 22
  • Track installation to begin July 31- August 8
  • Grandstand installation started June 10 and will go on until July 26
