Crookston High School went into temporary lockdown due to a man protesting the closure of Washington School

The Crookston High School briefly entered a soft lockdown after Matthew Rosu came onto campus and began protesting a recent school board decision. The School Resource Officer responded immediately and directed the individual off school property, and the lockdown was lifted shortly thereafter. At all times, students and staff remained safe.

Rosu is the same individual who protested during the vote at Thursday night’s special board meeting. Rosu is also a bus driver for the Crookston School District.

Superintendent Randy Bruer, in a statement, said, “While we respect the right of an individual to express opinions, disruptions to the school environment are not permitted, and we will continue to prioritize maintaining a safe and orderly campus. The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. We appreciate the quick response of our staff and our School Resource Officer in effectively managing this situation. As always, we encourage students to speak up if they see or hear anything that concerns them and to report it to a trusted adult.”
