The Crookston American Legion Post 20 Baseball team beat Ada Post 26 5-4 in a walkoff in the first game to earn two league play points, and dominated in a 10-0 threeinning victory in game two to sweep a doubleheader at Jim Karn Field in Crookston.
FIRST INNING-
Ada was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with three flyouts.
Crookston’s Parker Kelly led off with a walk, advanced to third base on a throwing error and scored a run on a wild pitch to give Crookston a 1-0 lead.
SECOND INNING-
Ada started off the inning with Cadyn Dahl reaching on an error. The next batter, Brandon Bueng reached on a fielder’s choice when Crookston got the out at second base. Bueng advanced to second base on an error and moved to third base on a wild pitch. The next two batters were retired.
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with a strikeout, groundout and flyout.
THIRD INNING –
The first two Ada batters were retired before Casper Kritzberger singled to center field. The next batter lined out to right field.
Crookston’s Teagen Lubinski led off the bottom of the inning with a single and moved to second base on a wild pitch. The next batter flew out to right field allowing Lubinski to move to third base. Kelly hit a slow roller down the third base line for an infield single. Matt Contreras walked to load the bases and Gavyn Hlucny doubled to right field to score two runs for a 3-0 lead. Contreras scored on a passed ball to give Crookston a 4-0 lead through three innings.
FOURTH INNING-
Ada’s first batter of the inning reached on catcher’s interference. The next batter flew out before Brandon Bueng walked. The next batter grounded into a double play.
Crookston’s Blake Melsa walked with one out and after a strikeout, Lucas Miller walked. Kelly followed with a walk to load the bases with two outs. The next batter grounded out to first base and the inning was over with Crookston leading 4-0.
FIFTH INNING-
Crookston’s Melsa continued to deal in the fifth inning as he retired Ada in 1-2-3 fashion with a fly out, line out, and a strikeout.
Crookston’s Carter Fee reached on a walk and stole second base. After a strikeout, Fee advanced to third base on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt, but the next batter popped out.
SIXTH INNING-
Ada’s Kritzberger led off with a triple and scored on a McCraven single. Conner Nelson was hit by a pitch and after a strikeout, Bueng singled to score another run and Ada trailed 4-2.
The first two batters were retired before Miller walked and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. The next batter struck out and Crookston took a 4-2 lead into the seventh inning.
SEVENTH INNING-
The first two Ada batters were retired and Crookston was one out away from winning the game. Kritzberger reached on an error and McCraven singled up the middle. Nelson singled to score two runs to tie the game at 4-4.
Crookston needed a run to win the game as Contreras started it off with a single and Hlucny doubled to right-center field to give Crookston runners at second and third with nobody out. Fee hit a ground ball to the shortstop that was bobbled and Contreras scored to give Crookston a 5-4 victory.
Crookston improves to 1-1 in league play and gets an important two points in league play. Ada drops to 1-1 on the year.

FIRST INNING-
Ada was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with a pop out, strikeout, and a fly out.
Crookston’s Lucas Miller led off with a walk before the next batter hit into a double play and the next batter flew out.
SECOND INNING-
Ada was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with a pop out, fly out, and line out.
Crookston’s Alex Elbinger ws hit by a pitch with one out. After an out and a walk, the next batter was retired and the game was scoreless after two innings.
THIRD INNING-
Ada’s leadoff batter walked before he was picked off. The next two batters struck out.
Crookston’s Ethan Lanctot started the bottom of the inning with a single, Lucas Miller walked and Matt Contreras doubled to score a run to give Crookston a 1-0 lead. Gavyn Hlucny walked to load the bases before Lucas Perala was hit by a pitch to score a run. Elbinger was hit by a pitch to score another run. Isaiah Donarski walked to score the fourth run of the game for a 4-0 lead. Nolan Cassavant doubled to score two runs and Cody Demarais singled to score two more runs for an 8-0 lead. There was two outs before Matt Contreras decided to bat right-handed in the at bat and crushed a line drive over the left fielder’s head for a double to score another run. Hlucny singled to score a run and Crookston won the game 10-0 by a 10-run rule.
Crookston improves to 2-3 on the year and will play in the Grand Forks Tournament at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. They will also play another game on Friday, one game Saturday and another game on Sunday.
Ada drops to 1-2 on the year.
