CROOKSTON MAN KILLED IN HEAD ON CRASH ON KT ROAD

On Tuesday, September 13, at 8:27 a.m., there was a two-vehicle accident between a truck and another vehicle on the North Dakota side of the KT Road between Crookston and Thompson, about 2 miles west of the Thompson Bridge. The Grand Forks Sheriff’s Department reported that the North Dakota Highway Patrol is handling the crash.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol revealed that it was a fatal crash, with one driver killed and the other escaping the impact without injury. North Dakota Sergeant Shafer reported it was a head-on collision after one of the vehicles crossed the center line. Possible charges are pending.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported one car was a Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by a 42-year-old male from Crookston, who was killed in the accident. They had no restraints, and their airbags were deployed. The driver of the other car, a Dodge Charger, was 20-year-old Tyson Horton of Fertile, who was uninjured in the crash as he was restrained and had airbags deployed. The Patrol says that charges are pending investigation.

Highway Patrol reported that Horton was driving eastbound on the KT Road with the F-150 truck driver was driving westbound when Horton crossed the center line, and the vehicles collided head-on. The F-150 driver (whose name will be released at a later time) was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol released the name of the Ford F-150 truck driver as 42-year-old Thomas McWaters of Crookston. Possible charges are pending.
