Crookston Middle School Theatre Department to present the play “Fairy Tale Princess – Game of Thrones” November 14 and 15

The Crookston Middle School Theatre Department will present the 2025 One-Act Play “Fairy Tale Princess – Game of Thrones” on Friday, November 14, and Saturday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. each night at the Crookston High School auditorium.  Free will donations will be accepted and will go towards the costumes and other play expenses.

23 kids are part of the cast and crew under the direction of Brandon Lee, who said practice has been going well. “Practices have been going good. I’m amazed at how quickly they’ve been picking up their lines, especially Stormy and Keeva had it within two weeks. They’re doing great, especially considering most of the cast this year is sixth graders,” said Lee. “I had a huge turnout for that. Last year, I had 30 parts and only 12 kids showed up. This year, I went with a play with only 10 parts, thinking fewer kids wouldn’t show up, and then I had 24 kids show up so that was good. I think we are ready.”

KROX talked with members of the cast.

Keeva Kliner, who plays Snow White, said it has been a lot of fun. “I really wanted to make some new friends, and some of my friends from last year said that they had a really great time with it. We just keep running it and then they give us more notes and I like watching everyone improve,” said Kliner who memorized her lines quickly. “Well, I actually memorized them about a week after we got our script because me and my friend Stormy (Luckow) practice them a lot.”

Evan Kofoed, who plays Mulan and said his friends got him to come out for the play. “Kind of just because a lot of the other people in the play told me to do it. So I kind of just did it. Practices are pretty fun. I’m ready for the actual play,” said Kofoed. “I think I’m doing pretty good. I struggled a few weeks ago, but now I’m doing better. It’s a little difficult, but as long as you know the lines around your part, it’s not too hard.”

Skyla Fredrick, who also plays Snow White, said she enjoys being in the play. “I did it last year, and it was really fun, and it’s great to meet new people, like sixth graders and all that. And I’m pretty sure I’m going to do it next year, too. And theater is just fun to do,” said Fredrick who added what the most challenging part of the play is. “When you have a really long line and then you have to remember it when you go on, and it’s just hard to remember long lines. I work with people that are with me on the stage and then we just like go through our lines together and then just we would just remember them.”
