PIRATE BOYS GOLF WINS THE FERTILE/RED LAKE FALLS INVITE

The Crookston Pirate Boy’s Golf team shot a 340 to win the Fertile-Beltrami/Red Lake Falls Boy’s Golf Invitational today. The teams played nine holes at the Sand Hill River Golf Course in Fertile and nine holes at the Oak Knolls Golf Club in Red Lake Falls. 
Crookston’s 340 was seven strokes better than runner-up Fertile-Beltrami.
Quinn Westlake led the Pirates with an 82, including a 38 at Red Lake Falls.  Westlake finished in a tie for second place while Alex Iverson of Park Christian won the event with an 81.  “Quinn had a great bounce back in Red Lake Falls with a 38,” said Coach Steve Kofoed. “He had a good round at Fertile except he had an 11 on hole five.  You take that away and he had a great day today.”
Trey Christopherson was second on the team with an 85.  Coach Kofoed said it was a good round in Fertile to start the day. “Overall, we weren’t super happy with our scores in Fertile,” said Coach Kofoed. “It was nice to get a decent score to start and the guys had a decent round.”
The team ran into trouble with some big numbers in Red Lake Falls to end the day. “The guys fell victim to some big holes and we had 8’s, 9’s, 10’s and 11’s today,” said Coach Kofoed. “You shouldn’t have numbers like that in a varsity tournament.  For all the guys except Trey, they turned in their best score of the year so that was nice to see.”

Crookston will travel to the two day Fergus Falls Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
