Crookston Pirate Boys Tennis get two wins over Perham and East Grand Forks

The Crookston Pirate Boys Tennis team had a great day on the court, as they swept Perham 7-0 and beat East Grand Forks 6-1 in the Crookston Triangular on Friday.

Against Perham, Crookston fared greatly in singles. Reggie Winjum got things going with a 6-2, 6-2 match win over Maddox Happel of Perham, and the Pirates would only drop one more game throughout the rest of singles. Grant Funk would be next, and he would win 6-0, 6-0. Gunnar Groven would follow with a 6-1, 6-0 win, and Sam Widseth concluded a sweep in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. In doubles, Jack Everett and Hudson Rick took first doubles and Beat Zach Marburg and Payton Meyers in two sets, 6-2, 6-4. Colton Osborn and Alex Zammert would win 7-5, 6-3, and then Sawyer Anderson and Jacob Halvorson would complete the sweep, winning 6-1, 6-4 to give the Pirates a 7-0 victory.
Against the Green Wave, the singles play continued to be dominant for Crookston. The same lineup of Winjum. Funk, Groven and Widseth each only dropped one game in their respective matches, easily sweeping singles.
In both first and second doubles, Crookston won the first set but could not win the second set, forcing a match tiebreaker. Everett and Hudson won in 1st doubles 10-2, but Brady Anderson and Brock Stauss of EGF would win their tiebreaker 3-10. That would be the only match win for the Green Wave, as the Pirate 3rd doubles would win 6-4, 6-3 to claim a 6-1 total win, and 2 wins in the triangular.

Crookston improves to 9-6 on the year.
