The Crookston High Clay Target team has wrapped up the first two weeks of the fall competition season with 14 kids competing, and the varsity team is in third place out of eight teams in the conference.
“The fall season is a short 6-week season, with the first week dedicated to practice and showing new shooters the safety and proper way to shoot Trap. It is then followed by a short 5-week competition season where all shooting and scores are recorded at your home range. There are no tournaments, and this season is primarily used to keep kids shooting and introduce the sport to new shooters,” said Coach Randy Prudhomme.
This week, Evan Bourcher shot a perfect 25, while Eli Hoppe is leading the team and conference and is in 1st place in both. He is also in the top 100 in the league this fall. “The rest of the team is working really hard and is doing great. All of our Varsity shooters are in the top 25 in the conference, and the majority of the returning shooters are in the top 50,” said Coach Prudhomme. “We are currently only 4.5 points behind second place, and I believe we have great potential to overcome that, even closing to within 300 points of first. The new shooters are really grasping the mechanics and are showing major improvements each week. It will be fun to see how they finish out the season and start the spring.”
