Crookston Pirate Track competes in Section 8A True Team meet

The Crookston Pirate Boys and Girls track and field teams competed in the Minnesota High School Track and Field Coaches Association Section 8A True Team meet at the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves track in Walker. Every participant scores points in each event they compete in.
West Marshall wins the meet on the girls’ side with 856 points, and Walker-Hackensack-Akeley wins the meet on the boys’ side with 656 points. Both these teams advance to the state True Team meet in Stillwater.

GIRLS –
Crookston girls placed 8th out of 14 teams with 456.5 points. The team had a plethora of top 5 finishes, including Ashlyn Bailey in both the 100 and 200 meters, Chloe Boll and Nora Groven each placing top 5 in the pole vault, with Boll placing second at 8′ 6″, and Groven coming in 5th at 7′ 6″, and the 4×100 relay team placing 4th with a time of 54.39 seconds.

BOYS –
Crookston boys placed 12th out of 12 teams with 199 points. Peter Wiersma was the only solo athlete to place in the top 5 in any event, as he placed 5th in the long jump with a mark of 17′ 9.25″. The boys’ 4×200 relay team also placed 5th, with a time of 1:45.45. The 4×100 relay team then placed 7th with a time of 49.94 seconds, and Jayden Mulvey recorded two top 10 finishes, placing 9th in both the 800 and 1600 meters.
