5 Section 8A Track records fall, Ashlyn Bailey leads Pirates

The Crookston Pirate Boys and Girls track teams competed in the Section 8A Track and Field meet in Baudette and the Girls finished 11th out of 21 scoring teams with Park Rapids winning the meet with 97 points, 8.5 points better than West Marshall.  The Pirate Boys finished tied for 19th place out of 20 teams with four points while Park Rapids won the meet with 115 points, five points better than Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. 

 Five Section 8A Track and Field meet records were broken in the meet with Bagley’s Fosston’s Ava Phrankonkham breaking the 100, 200 and she was part of the 4×100 relay team that broke the race record.

GIRLS –
Crookston had five girls competing in four events.  Ashlyn Bailey competed in two events and had the highest finish of any Pirates. Bailey finished in third place in the 100 meters with a time of 12.80.  She finished fourth place in the 200 meters with a time of 26.86.
Chloe Boll had a solid performance in the Pole Vault, with a vault of 8-08, and finished fourth place.
Grace Boll finished in seventh place in the triple jump with a jump of 31 feet and 5.25 inches.
Nora Groven finished eighth place in the pole vault with a vault of 7 feet and nine inches.
Morgan Boll tied her personal best in the pole vault and finished 15th with a vault of 7 feet and two inches.

BOYS –
The Pirate boys had five competing in three events.
Makoti Weber had a solid day in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet eight inches to finish sixth place.
Jayden Mulvey, Gavin Reitmeier, Masen Lessard, and Aaron Gosse finished eight in the 4×200 Relay.
Aaron Gosse finished second place in his heat and finished ninth place overall in the 200 meters.

Section 8A Meet records

There were five Section 8A meet records broken on Friday.

Ava Phrakonkham of Bagley/Fosston broke the 100-meter record with a time of 12.06. The previous record was set by Dee Dee Pudwill of Waubun in 1984 at 12.20.

Ava Phrakonkham of Bagley/Fosston broke the 200-meter record with a time of 24.94 which broke the record of 25.00 set by Lisa Brateng set in 1987.

The Park Rapids Panther Girls 4×200 Relay team broke the Section 8A record with a time of 1:45.95. The previous record was set by Bagley/Fosston in 2009 with a time of 1:46.00. 

The United Clay-Becker Boys 4×200 Relay team broke the Section 8A record with a time of 1:32.37, which broke the East Grand Forks record of 1:32.54 set in 1998.

The Bagley/Fosston Girls 4×100 team broke the record with a time of 50.21, which broke West Marshall’s record of 50.69 set last year. Ava Phrakonkham was part of the relay team.
