CROOKSTON RESTAURANTS ADJUSTING TO STATE MANDATE AND ARE READY TO SERVE CUSTOMERS

Minnesota restaurant employees were dealt a significant blow on Monday evening when Governor Tim Walz announced he had signed Executive Order 20-04 to order the temporary closure of Minnesota restaurants and bars to dine-in customers to help keep people safe from the spread of COVID-19.

KROX was able to get a hold of three restaurant owners in Crookston on Monday evening to get their plans and thoughts.  All three said they were going to be operating skeleton crews and had to tell employees they weren’t going to be working as much, if at all, over the next several weeks.  “I had to make a lot of phone calls and texts to my employees,” said Irishman’s Shanty owner Paul Gregg. “I had to let them know we were going to be down to a skeleton crew, and we weren’t going to need bartenders, as many cooks, and hopefully, this is short-lived.”

IRISHMAN’S SHANTY
Tuesday is St. Patrick’s Day and the Irishman’s Shanty will have to close the doors early, at 5:00 p.m., like the restaurants around the state.  “It is being dictated to us, but I agree, and it will be a St. Patty’s Day to remember for the wrong reasons,” said Irishman’s Shanty owner Paul Gregg. “We will be open until 5:00 p.m. and serve the traditional corn beef and cabbage and Irishman’s Shanty stew.”    After 5:00 p.m., Gregg said they would only be serving for pick-up and curbside pickup. “We will be doing everything over the phone with takeout, curbside, and the off-sale.”
The Irishman’s Shanty will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for takeout orders for breakfast, lunch, and supper.  The number to call for takeout or curbside pickup is 281-9912.  For the Shanty’s menu, CLICK HERE.

DRAFTS SPORTS BAR AND GRILL
Drafts Sports Bar and Grill will be adjusting their hours and will offer the menu for curbside pickup, takeout, and the off sale will still be available.  “We will be offering to-go orders or curbside pickup for lunch and dinner for the foreseeable future,” said Jasmine Melsa. “We will take the order and the credit card over the phone, and they can pick it up at the off sale door.”
Drafts will serve lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and they will serve dinner from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.  To call in an order, call 281-1183.   For Drafts menu, CLICK HERE.

CROOKSTON INN – SCOBEY’S PUB AND GRUB
The Crookston Inn, who just reopened last month, will have pick up available at the front entrance with a drive-through option.  “You can drive through and pick up the food at the front door,” said Laurie Stahlecker. “I will deliver it to you, and you can order it off our menu.”  The hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the phone number to call is 470-1000.

CROOKSTON EAGLES CLUB
The Crookston Eagles will be closed until March 28. They will update their customers as this moves forward and they pass along this message – “Please patronize the businesses in town that can give to-go orders. Remember to support Crookston!”

WONDERFUL LIFE FOODS
Wonderful Life Foods’ co-owner Erin Brule said they will see minimal disruption at their store.  “The changes we are seeing in the store is pretty minimal,” said Brule. “We aren’t able to offer seating right now.  We are still making our sandwiches, soups and wraps and they are ready to go for carryout.  We’re keeping all our coffee and soups that were self-serve in the kitchen at this time so we are happy to get those ready for you when you stop in.”
Curb-side pickup is available by calling 281-1125 and they will be happy to run your order out to you in your car.

HAPPY JOE’S PIZZA AND ICE CREAM PARLOR –
The biggest change at Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream Parlor in Crookston will be no dining in the restaurant, but they will offer carryout and delivery as they usually do. “We will just have pick up and delivery.  Our delivery is going to remain the same and we are looking at speeding up delivery so it is hot and fresh,” said Store manager Brooke Panzer. “We are looking at keeping our hours the same and we are committed to sanitize everything constantly.  We have team members wearing gloves and we are disinfecting handles, pens, door knobs, the tills, phones and everything like that.”
Happy Joes will be open 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.  The phone number for Happy Joes is 281-5141 or you can go to their website at www.happyjoes.com.
