CROOKSTON SCHOOLS UPDATE FROM JEREMY OLSON

Greetings from Crookston Public Schools! First and foremost, I want to extend to the community of Crookston a big thank you for the warmth and hospitality that you have had in welcoming me to the community. There are so many great people here and I look forward to working with you. As we look toward the start of the 2018-2019 school year, there are a couple of things happening at Crookston School District that we would like you to know about.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
You help the school immensely when you qualify for free or reduced status by filling out a free/reduced lunch application. Students that qualify bring an additional funding source to the school as well as to the Food Service Program. I want to encourage parents to take the time to fill out these forms if there is any possibility of qualifying. Qualifying applications help the school, food service program, potentially increase preschool funding, and increase the likelihood of success for future grants. Qualification depends on the total household income as well as number of people in the household.

High School Entrance
The concrete sidewalk at the High School is being replaced as it had become very cracked and was definitely in need of repair. As a result, we are currently replacing the concrete in front of the High School which necessitates the diversion of traffic to our east entrances. We hope to have this entrance finished very soon.

August 1st PAC Meeting
There is a Parent Athlete Coach (PAC) Meeting on August 1st at 7 pm at the Crookston High School Auditorium. Due to the concrete project, we are asking you to enter door #31 (west side of the auditorium). All parents and students should attend this meeting to find out how to register, learn about school eligibility, and academic requirements. There will also be a time to meet with the respective coaches and prepare for a great fall season!

August 9th Welcome Back to School Event
I wanted to invite all parents and students to attend our Welcome Back to School Day on August 9th from 7 am to 7 pm at Crookston High School. This is a time to get your questions answered, register students, fill out forms, and meet staff members. It is my sincerest hope that you will come to this event as we gear up for the 2018-2019 school year!
If you are new to the community of Crookston or thinking about enrolling at Crookston School District I would especially invite you to come and learn about what Crookston Public Schools has to offer your students from small class sizes, no cost after school care, strong fine arts programming, and rich course offerings at the High School. We are a medium sized school with big school opportunities. I look forward to meeting you on August 9th at the welcome back event or at some other point. This is going to be a great school year! Pirate Pride!
