Crookston Softball explodes for 19 runs, takes down ABW

The Crookston Pirate Softball team needed only 6 hits to score 19 runs, defeating the Ada-Borup West Cougars 19-2 in a game played in Ada on Monday.

FIRST INNING-
Crookston came ready to play, as they had their best offensive inning of the year in the 1st. emily Bowman led off with a base hit, followed by a Rilynn Aubol walk and a Brea Lessard single, scoring the first run to make it 1-0. Kambelle Freije walked, and then Madi Bruggeman grounded out, scoring another run to make it 2-0. Lessard scored on a wild pitch, and Leia Parkin doubled home Freije to make it 4-0. Then, Shyuh Burnette scored but reached on a wild pitch which scored Parkin, and Burnette scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-0. Peyton Demerais would then walk, and Wagner would get hit by a pitch to continue the inning. Bowman walked to load the bases, and Aubol got hit to score the 7th run. Lessard and Freije would each walk in a run to make it 9-0, Bruggeman would ground out for an RBI again to make it 10, and Parkin would clear the rest of the bases with a 2-run double, capping of the barrage with a 12-0 Pirates lead.
ABW f\got a walk and a doublw with no one out to start the home half of the inning. A wild pitch would score the first run to make it 12-1, and then an RBI single by Madelyn Nelson made it 12-2. The Cougars would go down quietly to end the inning.

SECOND INNING-
Crookston would be retired in order on three popouts in the 2nd.
The Cougars would get a two-out single from Avery Johnson, but a strikeout and two putouts by Ally Wagner would keep ABW of the scoreboard in the 2nd.

THIRD INNING –
In the 3rd, a hit by pitch abd a walk would start the inning with two on. After a strikeout, a throwing error on second base allowed Aubol to score to make it 13-2, and a passed ball would score Lessard to make it 14-2. Freije and Burnette would walk, and Peyton Demerais would cap off the inning with a two-run single, making it 16-2 halfway through 3.
Madelyn Nelson walked with one out, but then Ellidi Dahl grounded into a 4-3 double play started by Aubok to quickly end the inning.

FOURTH INNING-
Crookston got two walks with one out in the 4th, and Freije would drive in Bowman to make it 17-2. Then, with runners on second and third, Bruggeman would drive in two with a single to make it 19-2. Crookston would then load the bases with one out, but a popout and groundout would end the Pirate threat.
The Cougars got a leadoff single from Leighton Odden, but then a popout, a groundout and a lineout all to Lily Cornelie at short ended the game by run rule, giving the Pirates a 19-2 win.

Crookston improves to 5-8 on the season, and Ada-Borup West falls to 2-6.
