Crookston Softball gets shut out in four innings by Red Lake Falls

The Crookston Pirate Softball team were held to no runs and no hits by the Red Lake Falls Eagles as part of a 15-0 loss in RLF on Friday evening.

FIRST INNING-
Crookston was retired in order in the first inning on two strikeouts and a flyout.
In the bottom of the inning, Ally Wagner got two quick outs, but then the Eagles began to surge. Kylie Klipping walked, then a dropped fly ball scored Klipping to make it 1-0 Eagles. Then, Shandi Nelson delivered an RBI single to increase the lead to 2-0. Nelson would then steal second, reach third on an error, and score on a Kayla Schafer triple. Finally, Ava Seeger delivered a base hit to put the Eagles up 4-0 at the end of the inning.

SECOND INNING-
In the second, a groundout and two strikeouts sent the Pirates down in order again.
Layna Schindler led off with a walk and reached second on a throwing error. Then, another error would score her, putting the Eagles up 5-0. Klipping would drive in the next run to make it 6-0, and then after a wild pitch, yet another error would score the seventh run of the game for RLF. With Knutson on base, Shandi Nelson drove her in with a single to make it 8-0. A couple batters later, Ava Seeger would ground out, scoring the ninth and final run of the inning, giving RLF a 9-0 lead after two innings.

THIRD INNING –
Crookston got a two-out walk in the third inning from Ally Wagner, but every other batter that faced Grace Knutson in the inning was sat down on strikes.
An error and a one-out walk put two runners on for the Eagles, and Kylie Klipping would drive in her third run with her third hit to make it 10-0 Eagles. After another Pirate error increased the lead to eleven, Shandi Nelson drove in her third run with her third hit, putting RLF up 12-0. The Eagles then tried a double steal, but was caught as the plate for the second out of the inning. Unfortunately for the Pirates, the Eagles would not stop pushing. Another error made it 13-0, and a wild pitch followed by a passed ball scored Kayla Schafer, giving the Eagles a 14-0 lead before a strikeout ended the frame.

FOURTH INNING-
Grace Knutson struck out all three Pirates she faced in the fourth inning.
The Eagles needed one run to win in four innings. After a leadoff groundout, three straight singles were capped off by Klipping again, driving in Layna Schindler to walk it off, giving RLF a 15-0 victory.

Crookston falls to 1-6 on the season, while Red Lake Falls improves to 12-0.
