CROOKSTON VISITOR’S BUREAU MAKES CHANGES TO BOARDS BYLAWS

The Crookston Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) met Thursday at the Irishman’s Shanty.

BYLAW AMENDMENT LANGUAGE CHANGES AND REMOVALS
The board took action on their current bylaw amendments by changing language in the organization’s statutes. The board approved restructuring the board of director’s language in reference to city council members. “There was some reference to city council members,” said Chairmen of the CVB, Bob Magsam. “As voting board of directors, that was ultimately removed, a lot of language needed to be cleaned up there. There was also language that referred to the tourism director. Since we’ve been operating with the executive board and board of directors as the lead on the CVB as of late, we had to remove a lot of language that gave authority to a tourism director.”

GRANT REIMBURSEMENTS
The board also approved the marketing grant reimbursements for two Crookston entities. The Blue Line Club has been approved for a grant reimbursement in the amount of $500, and the Women’s Staycation event has been reimbursed for its marketing efforts in the amount of $3,000.  “This is basically a women’s only event which brings women to town on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on their chosen weekend,” said Magsam. “Which I believe is coming up in April. They plan many events and bring in vendors and a bunch of things that fill up two and a half days at the Crookston Inn. This meets the criteria because it brings in overnight stays; everybody who participates stays at the hotel. It’s kind of their vacation away from home, but not away from Crookston.”

CVB PLANS TO KEEP BUSINESS WITH KVLY MEDIA
KVLY Media in Fargo partnered with the CVB in early 2023 and featured Crookston in a digital advertisement campaign to promote the city. KVLY has contacted the CVB again, and Magsam explained that more business may be done with the media group. “We have expressed interest in partnering with them in some way,” said Magsam. “I brought this up to the board, but we’re going to hold off until moving into April and then make contact with them and see how we want to move forward with what events we want to push. Primarily summer events.”

CONSENT AGENDA
The consent agenda included the approval of minutes from the February board meeting. It also included the approval of bills and disbursements in the amount of $561.27. The CVB will meet again on Thursday, April 11, at the Irishman’s Shanty.
