EGF to host 65th Annual Fall Choral Festival October 27

Several area high school choirs will join together to perform in the 65th Annual Fall Choral Festival at the East Grand Forks Senior High Performing Arts Center on Monday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. Choirs from Bagley, Crookston, and EGF Senior High will perform selections individually, and additional participants from Greenbush-Middle River and Lancaster will join together as part of a festival choir to be conducted by guest conductor Dr. Michael Weber.

Dr. Weber is the Associate Director Emeritus of Choral Activities at North Dakota State University.  He conducted the Madrigal Singers and The Statesmen of NDSU and taught classes in choral conducting, choral literature, and music education.  He has extensive experience as a music director, conductor, and stage director for numerous musical theatre productions in Maryland, Texas, California, and North Dakota.  He is a founding member of the Summer Performing Arts Company with the Grand Forks Public School District.

Dr. Weber holds degrees from the University of North Dakota, California State University, Fullerton, and the University of Arizona.  Prior to his appointment at NDSU, Dr. Weber was a faculty member at Salisbury University, Salisbury, Maryland and The Victoria College, Victoria, Texas.  He has also taught all levels of music at public schools in North Dakota and has been a guest clinician/conductor of numerous festivals and honor groups throughout the United States.

The Fall Choral Festival began in 1959 as the project of three area choral directors: Garfield Reichert of Crookston, Don Danielson of East Grand Forks, and Bryant Ulseth of Thief River Falls. The festival aims to promote choral music and to give students a chance to hear and perform with students from other choirs, as well as to work with and learn from another teacher and director.

Admission for the concert will be $4 for adults and $2 for students and will be collected at the door. Additionally, a pie raffle will be held with proceeds supporting the EGF Music Boosters. Tickets for the raffle will be $2 each or 3 for $5, and will allow entrants a chance to go home with a fresh pie from Perkins of Grand Forks.
